Outstanding Visitor Experience award celebrated

We’re celebrating! Narooma Oyster Festival is multi-award winning!

Our love of the rock oyster is what drives us to strive for excellence and innovation when it comes to throwing Australia’s biggest shellabration, the Narooma Oyster Festival, and it is thrilling to be recognised for our efforts!

Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor Mat Hatcher, Narooma Rocks Chair Cath Peachey, Director Jenny Barrett, Marketing and Communications Manager Sarah Chenhall, outgoing General Manager Carrie Taylor and Premium Experiences and Volunteer Cordinator Anine Leakley.

Back in April, our promotion of the festival and importantly the rock oyster and its growers, were recognised at the Sydney Fish Markets Seafood Excellence Awards. Now we have another trophy to celebrate – Outstanding Visitor Experience – which was announced at the Eurobodalla Business Awards in Batemans Bay on Saturday night.

Narooma Rocks Chair Cath Peachey said the awards are a wonderful recognition of the small team, the dedicated Board and the 150 volunteers who deliver the festival, and also for the oyster farmers and the community who have shown their support during the past 17 years.

At the Eurobodalla Business Awards on Saturday she said “This award highlights the unique charm of the festival and underscores our commitment to providing an exceptional experience to all our visitors. A heartfelt thanks goes to the fantastic events team at Eurobodalla Council for organising a great night for our community and their ongoing support of the festival as we prepare for our 18th event in 2025.”

“Here’s to continuing this journey and to another year of remarkable experiences for our visitors, starting with supporting Australia’s Oyster Shucking Champion Doody at the upcoming World Oyster Opening Championships in Ireland in September!”

Each award progresses to the next round, with the Far South Coast Business Awards in September, and the National Seafood Awards in November. Fingers crossed!

The Narooma Oyster Festival is held annually on the first weekend in May. The next festival will take place on May 2-3, 2025.
