A mecca for oyster lovers and an institution for shuckers Jim Wild’s Oysters is home to not one but two shucking champions, Sally McLean and her Dad Jim Wild. Sally is has thrice won the Womens Australian Championship, while Jim has two World Championships from Galway to his name. If you have time, browse the memorabilia and displays, Jim or Sally might even have time to share a yarn or two.
Surrounded by the sights and sounds of a working oyster farm, it’s a great place for a seafood feast. There’s two kinds of oysters, the Rock and the Pacific, scallops and prawns – served with a variety of toppings and condiments. The cafe is not licensed, so bring your own drop, perhaps chosen from one of Shoalhaven’s many wineries.
