Merimbula Lake is home to award-winning Sydney Rock Oysters, with the township settled around the beautiful estuary entrance.
Led by multi-generation oyster farmer James Wheeler, this on-the-water tasting begins with a short boat ride to the famous Wheelers Oyster Farm, where you’ll witness a working farm in action. Then, don a pair of waders and stroll out onto the lake to the floating tasting table.

As the tide drifts by, James will show you how these little ocean gems are cultivated and the vital role they play in the marine ecosystem.
Then comes the best part, watch as oysters are freshly shucked before your eyes, or try your hand at it yourself! Enjoy these briny delicacies paired with a crisp glass of Australian sparkling, surrounded by the beauty of Merimbula’s coastline.
