The Narooma Oyster Festival is seeking volunteers for our next flagship event on May 5 – 7, 2023.
The two day festival is an established and fun event that showcases our vibrant community and region. Each year more than 100 volunteers generously give their time, from experienced locals to students looking for experience.

Bump-in Thursday & Friday
Theming and design of premium dining experiences – Help to transform our marquees into memorable event areas for the Long Table Dinner, the Rock Oyster Lounge and the new seafood lunch.
Labourers and handymen – Spare a few hours to help set up the marquees, hang signs around town and the festival site and delivering boxes to marquees, and assist the theming and design team.
Runners – Special folk are needed to help with eleventh hour surprises. Key areas will include setting up and supporting the information marquee and volunteer tent, stocking the oyster and liquor bar and fetching random items, sometimes from off-site.
Community Liaison – Folks who love chatting to people. Answer enquiries about the program, the festival layout and the wider area.
Friday Festival 3pm - 9pm
Welcome team –
- Main Gate: 3pm – 8pm. Welcome festival goers, scan tickets and offer guidance where needed.
- Information Marquee: Folks who love chatting to people. Answer enquiries about the program, the festival layout and the wider area.
- Volunteer Marquee: Ensure there is a support and a supply of refreshments for the crew.
Retail – Stationed at the oyster bar and merchandise marquee.
Long Table Dinner Welcoming team and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate holders, waiters.
Oyster Bar – People who can assist to dress tasty rock oysters.
Main Bar – Bar staff with current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificates.
Runners – Are you flexible and fast to help with eleventh hour problems?
Saturday 8am – 6pm
Welcome team –
- Main Gate: 8am to 5pm. Welcome festival goers, scan tickets and offer guidance where needed..
- Information Marquee: Folks who love chatting to people. Answer enquiries about the program, the festival layout and the wider area.
- Volunteer Marquee: Ensure there is a support and a supply of refreshments for the crew.
Retail – Stationed at the oyster bar and merchandise marquee.
RSA hospitality volunteers – People with a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate for the main bar and premium experiences including the Ultimate Oyster Experience, the new Seafood Long Lunch and after dark event, Champagne Oyster Cruises and Rock Oyster Lounge.
Non-RSA hospitality volunteers – waiters, table clearers, dish washers required in the various premium experiences including the Ultimate Oyster Experience, the new seafood lunch, the Champagne Oyster Cruises, the Rock Oyster, Lounge, etc.
Food service in the Oyster Bar – People who can assist to dress and sell tasty rock oysters.
Cooking demo program – Support the team and chefs.
Shucking Championships – Set and clear oysters for each round.
Runners – People that can be deployed where there may be a gap.
Research and Evaluation – People who can help us to survey visitors for valuable feedback from noon to close.
Sunday Pack Down 6.30am – 11.30am
Festival pack down – People to help with anything from packing down signs and putting equipment back in boxes, to picking up rubbish or raking up straw.
